Re: WFNI 1070 Indianapolis (ex WIBC) going off 8/2
Mark Roberts
In the middle of the U.S., 1070 is a very messy frequency at night. KHMO Hannibal, MO; WDIA Memphis, TN (a legendary station); KFTI (formerly KFDI) Wichita, KS; KNTH Houston, TX all have nighttime directional signals with sharp nulls. As with so many other nighttime Houston DAs, KNTH sends most of its signal out over the Gulf of Mexico. When I lived in Houston, I could always hear a little bit of KNX underneath KRBE (what's now KNTH) at night. At my present location in the San Francisco Bay Area, KNX comes in well most nights, of course. I recently took a short vacation near Sonora, California, and KNX was a steady presence there every night. On Wed, Jul 28, 2021 at 10:22 PM kevin asato <kc6pob@...> wrote:

Re: Air Band Receivers
Dave613
airnav covers a limited list of countries, a more world-wide site is skyvector, e.g. https://skyvector.com/airports/Portugal
Skyvector includes charts as well of course which are useful for air band monitoring (location of navaids, waypoints etc) Dave.

Here in Australia we have the AR-1733 and AR-1780 that both cover this band.

Those numbers sound much more realistic.

The best medium wave DX index at the same Rockwork Cliff would be for reception of 558-7BU in Burnie, Tasmania, Australia during the August 2017 DXpedition. That 2,000 watt station was received at 13,128 km from Manzanita, for a very modest index of 6.56. Gary DeBock (in Puyallup, WA, USA)

6.56 for 7BU is a good effort, sadly they switched to FM a couple of years ago. This has had the advantage of helping me as it has opened up 558kHz for some DX from QLD and WA.
