WTMP 1150 STERO TEST TONIGHT--- STARTING IN ONE HALF HOUR (MIDNIGHT EASTERN)

Les Rayburn

WTMP (AM) - Wikipedia

WTMP 1150 kHz in Tampa, FL will be conducting a test in AM Stereo tonight per a post from owner Neil Ardman in the Facebook Group "I Love AM Radio."
Details are minimal but we assume that the test will commence at the start of experimental hours, beginning at Midnight Eastern Time (0400 UTC)
We can also assume that the test may be at their daytime power of 10,000 watts but this is NOT CONFIRMED.
No information on duration or programming. Some sweep tones, Morse Code IDs, etc. have been e-mailed to Neil but no word on if he received them in time to incorporate them into the test. Fingers crossed.

Best bet is to tune in and record the session, perhaps find an online remote SDR or live stream to verify your reception.

They are the main "variety" store here, sort of like Walmart for those in the USA.

Those are some interesting results, what was wrong with the 310ET?

To me it sounds like it could be used instead of "sweet" or "awesome"?

Also, I have performed some VERY informal tests pitting my DT-800 against my CCrane Skywave, Sihuadon R-108 and Tecsun PL-310ET, and found the DT-800 to be able to really "hold it's own" against these other radios and the DT-800 was able to "hear" most of the same things (95%?) on AM that these other radios could, surprisingly.  FM was almost as good, but the R-108 is pretty hard to beat on FM.

PL-310ET had to go back to the shop and will be replaced by a PL-330 (in transit).

Thanks all!

I have been known to use the term, but combined with high, as in "High Zoot". I used it to mean advanced/good. or the like.
from word reference forums
high-zoot = approximately "really cool" From "zooty" - sharp, fashionable, showy

Hi Patrice,
1125 RNE-R5 Todonoticias Álava from Vitoria. RN is one of the Spanish Public National Radio channels (RN de Radio Nacional de España RNE). The second one, mainly focused on news and cultural short programs, is Radio 5 (R5 de Radio Nacional de España RNE) .
From Vitoria, RNE-RN ID will be 'Radio Nacional de España Euskadi' with regional news, and RNE-R5 ID 'Radio 5 Todonoticias Álava' with local news.
¡Buen DX!

Re: Kmart AM/FM Radio - Review - March 2021

Paul Blundell

Since moving house I have got this radio back out and have spent some more time really getting to know it.
One thing I have noticed on FM is that it has a noticeable "drift", over the period of an hour or so it required a retune every so often. I will be checking to see if the AM band suffers the same issue.

Re: Moving Home and Loggings

Paul Blundell

Last night I focused on the FM band, so far the results are not much different to my old location except the three low power FM translators don't come in very well. This I will be spending some more time focusing on.

Paul

Re: Your current "personal" radio DX challenge?

Paul Blundell

My latest challenge is to pick a part of the band (last night was 1503kHz to 1602kHz) and see what stations I can log. I will be working my way down the band in 100kHz segments.

Paul

Re: 549kHz - 2CR - Other Stations

Paul Blundell

I tried the last few nights over the weekend both barefoot and with my 3" FSL, nothing at all heard except 2CR.

Re: New House DX Results

Paul Blundell

That is a really good point and something I will need to look into more.
Our power lines run down the other side of the house so that is a bonus, we have all the same appliances but do have a new heat pump and dish washer so might need to check if they are having any impact.

Is there a difference in RFI...is there more or less noise at the new house? I moved last year form a house built in 1993 to a new house and there is more noise in some areas of the new house. I had to seek out spots where reception is best. The noise is not always apparent as noise as much as a desensitization of the receivers. As I move to lower noise areas the signals emerge more clearly. My point is that it was not immediately apparent that noise was an issue because it was not the usual buzz we often associate with RFI.
