Re: Which Ultralight?

Welcome to the group, it is great to see you on here.

I personally use a few different ultralight radios but find my Digitech AR1733 gets the most use.

Paul

Hi Gary, I just joined the group, also curious what is in and what not, if I calculate dims correctly Tecsun PL-380 would be in but Degen DE1103 already too large, yes? The PL-380 so far my smallest one in the line.

Hello Wolfgang, and welcome to our group!

Yes, the Tecsun PL-380 is an "official" Ultralight radio within the 20 cubic inch size limit, while the Degen DE1103 is not. But of course, you are free to chase DX with whatever compact portable you prefer, and report your results here.

You're welcome.
There is some noise, but not as bad as in other locations.

Congratulations, Jorge, this is a good Dx and encourages me to continue working in the 10 kHz steps, trying to hear a North American station.

Greetings to all.

Re: 684 RNE Spain 7664km Tecsun PL-360

This is a good DX, Peter, you can clearly hear the broadcast of the game Sevilla Football Club against Atlético de Madrid with a final result of 1-0 for Sevilla.

Re: MWDX Etón Elite Traveler Brazil and Argentina 12th Apr 2021

DX Pedro

IMPRESSIVE!!! you must live in a very noise free area, to get those receptions! gosh darn! really impressive.
thanks for sharing, mate.

Re: Which Ultralight?

DX Pedro

Well you have the 606 like you've mentioned, but also you should include the 310ET and the 330. There's also the Radiwow/Shihuadon R-108. these are the best (and IMHO) ULDX radios.

Re: radiowe r-108 vs tecsun pl-310et

DX Pedro

Hey.
IDK if you already purchased the Radiwow, but my first radio was actually a 310et. I was on the verge to get either one or the other, but Tecsun seemed a bit more solid and well built, and also very sensitive according to some reviews, despite the age of the receiver. I couldn't be more happy to own the Tecsun.

Re: Ten more stations turn off Medium Wave services

Michael.2E0IHW

BBC AM closures have been sneaking up on us for some time.

We tend to listen to the radio when moving about, doing things,
so a good signal for a portable radio is essential.

Apparently, BBC Radio Devon will remain on 801 and 990kHz.
Is this confirmed?

Maybe somebody above the glass ceiling amazingly realises
that there are many locations where FM or DAB is not available...

Being tied to a roof aerial and living-room socket for FM or DAB
is not an option for radio!

Here's  hoping...

The stations are mostly lower power local MW stations with good FM/DAB coverage.

The exception is BBC Ulster which is high power on 1341kHz and coverage into England,

no one I’ve spoken to yet at the BBC can confirm.

1341kHz comes with 100kW  from Lisnagarvey with its famous Blau-Knox antenna mast.
