Software - MWDXerDB

Paul Blundell

MWDxerDB is a custom database program which has been designed and coded using JustBasic. It is based on the "simple database framework" which is included with JustBasic.

This program has been developed by myself over the past few years for the purpose of logging ultralight radio dxing related frequencies and information.

MWDxerDB is freeware and freely distributable, please note that I can accept no responsibility for how it is used and any issues it might cause on your computer as setups and configurations vary so much. MWDxerDB is self contained in it's own folder and does not write any files outside it's own folder or reg keys, this means it is totally portable and will happily run off a USB key.

As my interest is logging mediumwave frequencies, I have the following fields.
Frequency / Name
Details
Notes

To protect your loggings, the program is password protected. The current password is dxing

A link to the latest public version will be posted to the groups file area.

Hi.

Gary has setup two FSL's at 90 degree angles, he might be able to expand on this more and his results.

Hi

The graveyard channels in the USA are 1230, 1240, 1340, 1400, 1450 and 1490 khz

On these frequencies these stations can run a maximum power of 1000 watts

In earlier years ie back in the 60s - I think their max power was 250 watts

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1viufJPvMNFZNrGZ_-7otN12y4ntbXyqnC2OMixfCg6A/edit?usp=sharing

I got curious one day and made the chart above. I believe it to be
accurate. The six channels listed are the "Local" channels a/k/a
Class C. 250 -1000 W, unlimited time (i.e., not "Daytimers"
necessarily).

There used to be 100-W stations and those are apparently grandfathered
at that power level, but if you want to start a new station -- and
really, wouldn't we all want to? -- it would have to be at least 250
W. 1000 W if you actually want listeners. :)

In AK/HI/PR/VI these are Class B channels, so 250 W to 50 kW.

There is a link at the page above to the FCC's site that has more details.

Just thinking the IP problems if any !
MY idea is still clear : Using phased double loop to make a cadioid pattern for better killing of unwanted stations or noises !

goh! For such a big secret people will want to share the pdf? ;-) ?

A double loop idea!

Hello

This is a article from the old 73 magazine referred to  the discriminator antenna designed for 1.6-4 MHz to provide cardioid pattern lobes for reception only using phasing technique  with a loop and a telescopic antenna . It was given to a friend to a  friend to get an idea on how he can redesign that for MW usage

https://app.box.com/s/nc0qnfc37m4tr3ugwbicozgofcyd65ai

Based on this idea . I  a asking if someone used two loop antennas together with phasing to provide more than  heart shaped pattern for medium waves !

This was my idea since the time i kept handy this article

Did anyone made such project?

Thanks Gary,
Yes, i've read your HK report, I noticed you got Vesti FM. Your mystery 648 might be Botswana but not enough to go on.
The PL-360 loopstick is a tad smaller than 7.5'' :)
My reception was in a ground floor room.
