New member looking for help

Hi all,
I’d like to get involved in Ultralight Dxing and I’m looking for a good radio that qualifies. I have a CCPocket and a PL880. I know the PL880 doesn’t qualify and the CCPocket isn’t ideal. Could some of you recommend a legit Ultralight? If it helps, I live in Western NY State. Thanks, John

Video-- March 2021 Rockwork 2 Ocean Cliff DXpedition
With nasty weather forecast for 3 out of 4 days I knew that the latest DXing trip to Manzanita, Oregon would never be boring! The weather was indeed the most severe ever faced during ocean cliff live DXing, but on the very first morning (March 3rd) the Rockwork 2 cliff was deceptively calm, with only a 36 degree (F) temperature somewhat less than ideal. Reminding myself of Paul Walker in Alaska I gratefully set up my gear in the clear weather (thankful to be just above freezing), and noticed that the Pacific Ocean sunrise scenery was awesome from the top of the plunging cliff, complete with a lofty view of Manzanita far below. Figuring that this was the first, last and only chance that I would have during this trip to shoot a video without subjecting my phone to all-out combat, I interrupted the DU-oriented session to record the moment (6) March 2021 Rockwork 2 Ocean Cliff DXpedition - YouTube
The twin 6" (15cm) FSL setup with two "supercharged" portables (a CC Skywave and XHDATA D-808) is at the top of the DU-oriented cliff face of the Rockwork 2 site-- the only one with a "dual personality" (featuring both South Pacific and Asian-facing cliffs). The Asian-facing cliff site was the venue of last October's breakthrough TP-DXpedition, although this week the biggest breakthrough was probably in surviving vicious weather. Video-- Subfreezing Wind Chill Rocks Rockwork 2
Paul Walker is indeed the Master of live FSL DXing in subzero temperatures, but the Rockwork cliff in Oregon has far more tricks up its sleeve to put Extreme DXers to the test! This video shows the highly exposed Rockwork 2 ocean cliff DXing setup on March 4th, with 30 mph wind gusts pushing the wind chill to around 25 degrees F. Although that might seem like like a tropical heat wave in McGrath, Alaska, the wind came very close to making "Frequent Flyers" out of the two 6 inch (15cm) FSL antennas, threatening to topple them and their 5 foot (1.52m) PVC bases onto the solid concrete. NHK2 EARLY sign off?

Had 693 at 1435UTC peeling the paint off in Alaska today, and at 1440UTC, they did their usual sign off... station id, some official sounding song then the sign off music/chimes. They aren’t listed as signing off till 1540UTC. And what’s odd is I’d swear at least the 774 transmitter is still on air an hour later with a dead/open carrier.

Hi all, pre dawn this am in Sydney I heard what sounded like Russian or Spanish accents on 189 kHz, perhaps a 2 person conversation in a studio?
Is there a world wide database of LW/SW freqs I could search to see what station this might be? Thanks, Grant.

I’m sorry I should’ve been more clear I’m 150 percent certain of what I heard, in terms of a station name... I just couldn’t find it on the schedule at RTIs website That’s all Paul.

Heard via the 150,000 Watt BEL2 Taiwan Fisheries Radio transmitter on Sunday March 7 at 1535UTC in McGrath, Alaska with a CC Skywave & DeBock 5" FSL Antenna I can't actually match what I think her name or the program name is by looking at the RTI website but she speaks english the entire newscast, which I tuned into in progress. After the song is over, there's another language that you can barely make out . Plus, this program ended at an odd time, about 1540UTC. If this were something other then RTI's english broadcast, she wouldn't be using english, I don't think. Nonetheless, my best reception yet of 738khz Taiwan. Audio lcip here:
