Re: PL - 310 via HKequipment-FARMERIK

I am not sure exactly what to look for. I have a G8, but no PL-380 to compare this 310 to. It does seem even more sensitive om all bands including FM, than the G8, but that is just a first impression today.

I was surprised how much the signal strength drops when tuned 1 Kc off on AM and SW.

My goal is to see if the widest setting has better audio on SW broadcasts which seem to have very wide signals, but I haven't tried that yet. I really like how quiet the G8 audio is, but part of that might be the strong muting or AVC. The CR-1100 behaves much differently as far as muting and or AVC.

I have tube Hi-fi tuners with wide audio band width, and I have wanted to convert one to SW, or get a wide audio band width SW receiver, such as these selectable DSP sets, and see what it sounds like through a Hi-fi amp and speaker on the SW powerhouses. - FARMERIK

Hello Farmerik!

Does anybody know if the newer PL 310 devices come now with the updated SI
Firmware/Hardware?

I would like to know because I have to place an order for some of the Tecsun
devices soon and I'm wondering if its better to buy the 310 or the 380
models? I personally like the 310 more, but if it is still with the older
Chip Revision I might stay at the 380's .

Betreff: [ultralightdx] PL - 310 via HKequipment-FARMERIK

I decided to give an order to HKequipment for my PL-310. I was attracted to
the slightly lower total price with shipping, than some Ebay Stores, and
more impressed by it coming with SANYO Enloop slow self discharging
batteries, which I really like for my multitude of small radios and LED
lights, because they do not run dead with occasional use, and with hundreds
of radio and dozens of small LED lamps and flashlights, it is my biggest
annoyance of using rechargeable cells.
The SANYO AA cells are clearly marked as being made in Japan, as they should
be. The label is printed slightly different that other Enloop cells I have
purchased recently though. They arrived fully charged which is normal, and
work fine in the radio. They show a full charge on the meter in the PL-310's
display too.
I placed my order on March 24th, and the radio arrived today, April 6th on
the East coast of the USA. It was shipped in a padded mailer, with 5 or 6
layers of thin bubble wrap, each taped securely, around the box, and more
inside too.
So I have no complaints at all. - FARMERIK
