Lately I've had more unidentified stations than those I could ID, but this evening I finally nailed a new one. Yes, it was from south of the border. Logged on SRF-59 w/ SAT.

1020, XEOU, Huajuapan de Leon, Oaxaca, 0602 UTC, 3/11/10, VP on one of the very tough freqs here in the Houston area. Suffering from slop from KLAT, Houston, on 1110. Also QRM from co-channel R. Reloj and XEPR as well as an UNID sta in SS and an UNID sta in EE. Playing mostly ranchera and campo mx. 0602 played the XE NA and right into a campo vcl selection. Finally an ID after that, "La Mera-Mera, La Primera..." This was // their online stream.

Campo mx sounds a lot like our C&W mx but it's in SS. I suppose it's sort of a catch-all term a little like "ranchera". There is a difference, but I'm at a loss of words to really explain it. It must be time to hit the hay.
