Tecsun PL-380 Four Band Performance Review

Gary DeBock

Hello All,

For those interested in the DXing capabilities of Tecsun's newest DSP pocket radio, a thorough 7-page review of the PL-380 AM-LW-FM-SW receiver (covering the development, capabilities and relative performance of this soft mute-free model) has been uploaded to DXer.Ca at http://www.dxer.ca/file-area/cat_view/87-ultra-light-radio-files-area/94-ultralight-radios (first option on the list), to the Yahoo Ultralightdx File site at   http://f1.grp.yahoofs.com/v1/MB84Sys-x-IbMqOD-ZwXwX3RQNsxUflWJ-7Gxni3E4WiTwqOJ1mo7kPkBPKujhaPxp6eDi0lr_M1HLlezF2YBJBT7-e7ixg/3%20Radios%2C%20Reviews%2C%20Manuals/Tecsun%20PL-380%20Review.doc and also is directly linked at http://www.mediafire.com/?gzwukykhyo2 .

Included in the review is a four-band Shootout with the PL-310 and D96L models (except on LW, where it is matched against the PL-310 and PL-300WT), and a discussion on how its relative AM-DXing value compares with the PL-310 and D96L models. An addendum provides additional information, with links to demonstration MP3's of the PL-380's DSP filtering options, and a recently developed 7.5" loopstick transplant modification to greatly boost the PL-380's LW and MW sensitivity on all frequencies. Hopefully this detailed review will answer all your questions about this innovative new DSP model.

73 and Best Wishes,
