Awesome! I've read somewhere they are also good at receiving satellite signals and to use it as a diy airplane tracker. but i can't say for sure.

The wire version of the off-center-fed dipole looks like it would be extremely quick and easy to build.  How you connect it to your radio will depend on what connects your radio allows.
