The big gun NHK2 stations do leave their carriers on for quite some time
after the actual s/off, Paul, even if the s/off is at 1540UT, but I don't
know why. Â

paint off in Alaska today, and at 1440UTC, they did their usual sign
off... station id, some official sounding song then the sign off
music/chimes.  They aren’t listed as signing off till
1540UTC. And what’s odd is I’d swear at least the 774 transmitter
is still on air an hour later with a dead/open carrier.
