Hi

Don't buy an analog dial radio hold out for Digital Display. The Sony 7600 is a good radio but a tad expensive if you are leaning that way go for the Sony 2010.
However for a good Bang for the Buck the Radio Shack/Realistic DX 440/Sangean ATS 803a.

I really appreciated FARMERIK's mention of the Sony ICF-SW 7600GR. After looking into this, it seems that this might best meet my needs. The size is about right for me and the aspect of "easy on batteries" is appealing to me, as is the fact that the controls do exactly what they say.
