There is no input jack on the PL380 so I would say that the 70 ft longwire would not work to improve your MW reception
The simple solution is to wrap a few turns around the radio, with one end of the loop to the antena and the other to earth. To reduce sigs with a big outside antenna, move the loop away from the radio a little.
