I was reading a 2004 IRCA publication which included many articles written by names I have seen here, when I noticed an article 'Large Area Loop for High Noise Environments' by Glen Kippel. It is basically a 30-50 foot length of co-ax formed into a large loop, with the center conductor connected to the shield near the receiver so it forms an electrostatic shield. A second version uses a transformer. It is also listed as being reprint A43.
