Thanks Gary - I will have to try both of those frequencies tomorrow morning. I did sit on 266 khz for a little bit, but only VR was coming in.

In between winding 7.5" LW looopsticks for others there has been a little time to chase NDB's here, and the log now has 88 stations from 7 states and 4 provinces. This morning at 1433 UTC I was able to receive my second Alaskan, 233-ALJ on Johnstone Island, but the new 6' sided LW loop was needed to get the signal out of the noise. This was the first station out of 88 that could not be heard with the "barefoot" 7.5" loopstick PL-380 here, in NDB chasing. Steve Ratzlaff had mentioned that this was the strongest Alaskan beacon for him, but I've had much better luck with 266-ICK, on Annette Island. For those interested, my current NDB log on the 7.5" loopstick PL-380 is posted at http://www.mediafire.com/?ml9a4vhw59oivo6 .

Hi all:
I got to my picnic table in the park much earlier this
morning, about an hour prior to LSR, but conditions were
only so-so. Oh well, at least it was really cold out :-)
More creature comforts, including a warmer seat cushion
and a hot cup of coffee in a thermos, are on the slate for
tomrrow!
One new one, dancing amongst the DGPS cacophony, was:
296-LGD, La Grande, OR PL-380 with tuned Monster Stick #92 for the ULR log
I picked it up on 298, avoiding a DGPS beacon, so the 296 carrier was absent due to the PL-380's 1 khz DSP
filtering. As a result, the actual Morse Code was an unmodulated squawking/clicking, similar to what a ham's SSB voice sounds like on AM, or if you detune too far away from an AM broadcast. It certainly comes in distinctly, though, perhaps better than the normal 1,000 hz tone.
There were some other nice re-logs from 1,000 or so miles away, including FS-375 and ZF-356.

Kevin.......Good work on the New Ones from the Park!!! You're certainly getting into this Pre-Sunrise Beacon DXing ....and quickly figuring out what you need to be Comfortable!!!
My only question is......."I wonder how long it will take before
someone calls the Cops and Reports a Crazy Bugger in the Park sitting at a Picnic Table in the Dark....and waving a Magic Wand around and wearing Headphones.....all the while listening to SQUACKS, CLICKS, BEEPS and Morse Code"!!!! HAHAHAHHAHHAHHAA....
I hope the Cop that shows up knows what DXing is all about!! HAHAHAHA. I'm sure Gary may have had some similar Experiences with his BIG LOOPS at the coast DXing in the Dark!! HHAHAHAHAHHA......
Nothin' wrong with us DXers eh???????????? HAHAHA!!!!
Keep having Fun with ULRs!!!
