Re: One new beacon this morning

In between winding 7.5" LW looopsticks for others there has been a
little time to chase NDB's here, and the log now has 88 stations from 7
states and 4 provinces. This morning at 1433 UTC I was able to receive
my second Alaskan, 233-ALJ on Johnstone Island, but the new 6' sided
LW loop was needed to get the signal out of the noise. This was the
first station out of 88 that could not be heard with the "barefoot"
7.5" loopstick PL-380 here, in NDB chasing. Steve Ratzlaff had
mentioned that this was the strongest Alaskan beacon for him, but I've
had much better luck with 266-ICK, on Annette Island. For those
interested, my current NDB log on the 7.5" loopstick PL-380 is posted

filtering. As a result, the actual Morse Code was an
unmodulated squawking/clicking, similar to what a ham's
SSB voice sounds like on AM, or if you detune too far away
from an AM broadcast. It certainly comes in distinctly,
though, perhaps better than the normal 1,000 hz tone.
There were some other nice re-logs from 1,000 or so
miles
away, including FS-375 and ZF-356.

figuring out what you need to be Comfortable!!!
My only question is......."I wonder how long it will take before
someone calls the Cops and Reports a Crazy Bugger in the Park
sitting at a Picnic Table in the Dark....and waving a Magic Wand
around and wearing Headphones.....all the while listening to
SQUACKS, CLICKS, BEEPS and Morse Code"!!!! HAHAHAHHAHHAHHAA....
I hope the Cop that shows up knows what DXing is all about!!
