The radio in the CC Witness is not that sensitive or selective. It's not in the same class with a DT-400W, for example. It's OK for recording strong locals, but even in this case its reception improves by using a passive loop like the Terk. It's better for recording from other radios using the line in.

The C. Crane CC Witness is similar to the earlier Pogo MP3 recorders:

Like the Pogo, it has built-in AM and FM tuners, and can do timer recording. It can also record from line in, but some signal attenuation is often needed to avoid distortion.
